Who we are

TrustSmart AI is a product of SmartLife AU, an Australian sole trader business with a registered ABN and ASIC business name. We are based in Australia.

This Privacy Policy explains how SmartLife AU collects, uses, stores, and protects personal information in connection with your use of TrustSmart AI (available at trustsmartai.com.au or any subdomain thereof).

We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in that Act.

What information we collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to operate TrustSmart AI. Depending on how you use the service, this may include:

How your submitted content is handled

Important: Content you submit (text, URLs, images, screenshots) is transmitted to Anthropic's API for AI analysis. It is not stored by SmartLife AU on any server or database after your check is complete.

When you submit content for a genuineness check, the following occurs:

Be mindful that content you submit — particularly in text or screenshot form — may contain personal information about yourself or others (for example, a WhatsApp message or social media post). You should only submit content you have the right to share, and avoid submitting sensitive personal information unnecessarily.


Section 04

Image and screenshot handling

Images and screenshots are processed in memory only. They are not saved, logged, stored, or used for any purpose beyond the immediate analysis request you initiate.

When you upload an image or screenshot:

Screenshots may contain personal information about third parties (names, profile photos, private messages). You are responsible for ensuring you have appropriate authority to submit any content you upload. TrustSmart AI is not intended to be used to analyse content about identifiable individuals in a manner that could constitute surveillance, harassment, or a breach of their privacy.


Section 05

Third-party services — Anthropic API

TrustSmart AI uses the Anthropic Claude API to perform AI-powered content analysis. When you submit content for a check, that content is sent to Anthropic's servers for processing.

Anthropic is a US-based AI safety company. By using TrustSmart AI, you acknowledge that your submitted content will be processed by Anthropic's systems. Anthropic's use of data submitted via API is governed by their own privacy policy and terms of service, available at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.

As of the date of this policy, Anthropic does not use API-submitted content to train their models by default. We recommend reviewing Anthropic's current policy for the most up-to-date information.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect only for the following purposes:

We do not use your submitted content to train AI models. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third party for marketing purposes.


Section 07

How we store and protect your data

Submitted content (text, URLs, images, screenshots) is not stored by SmartLife AU. It is processed transiently and discarded after each check.

Anonymised analytics data collected via Google Analytics is stored on Google's servers in accordance with Google's data processing terms.

Any emails you send to us are stored in our business email system and retained only as long as necessary to resolve your enquiry.

Our infrastructure uses HTTPS encryption for all data in transit. Our serverless functions run in Netlify's secure environment and your Anthropic API key is never exposed to the browser.

Cookies and analytics

TrustSmart AI uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymised usage data. GA4 may set cookies in your browser to distinguish unique sessions.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or any third-party marketing trackers. The only cookies present on TrustSmart AI are those set by Google Analytics for anonymised session tracking.

You can disable Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by using a browser with tracking protection enabled.

Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

No other sharing occurs. We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other commercial third parties.

Your rights under Australian Privacy Law

Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

AI disclaimer

Important: TrustSmart AI results are generated by an AI model and are provided for informational purposes only. They do not constitute professional fact-checking, legal advice, journalistic verification, or any other form of certified analysis.

Genuineness scores, verdicts, and source references produced by TrustSmart AI are AI-generated assessments based on the model's training data and reasoning capabilities. They may be incomplete, inaccurate, or out of date.

You should not rely solely on TrustSmart AI results when making important decisions. Always verify critical information through authoritative sources such as official government websites, established news organisations, or professional advisers.

SmartLife AU accepts no liability for decisions made in reliance on TrustSmart AI analysis results.


Section 12

Children's privacy

TrustSmart AI is not directed at children under the age of 15. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through TrustSmart AI, please contact us at hello@smartlifeau.com.au and we will take appropriate steps.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of TrustSmart AI after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users where possible.
